March 27, 2020 update

Letter from Ingleside President & CEO

Dear Ingleside Family,

In the past couple of weeks, our world has taken on a new form. Moments like these bring out the unified strength of our Ingleside family even in the most demanding times. As Mattie Stepanek so eloquently said, "Unity is strength ... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved."

As we continue to work together through this ever-changing situation, we thank everyone for their support and understanding as we remain proactive in maintaining the health and well-being of our entire Ingleside family. I am so grateful for our dedicated and caring staff and want to extend to them my sincerest appreciation for continuing to provide exceptional care for all our residents and clients.

For the health and safety of our beloved residents, clients, staff and greater community we are continuing to adhere to strict guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, and state-specific health departments.

We will continue to share updates, though in the meantime, please do not hesitate to visit our website for additional information and, we have community-specific, designated hotline phone numbers and email addresses for questions from residents and families.

In closing, I want to share another quote from Mattie Stepanek, "We all have life storms, and when we get the rough times and we recover from them, we should celebrate that we got through it. No matter how bad it may seem, there's always something beautiful that you can find." I see the beauty in all of you, our Ingleside family. Together we will get through this.

With gratitude,
Lynn O'Connor
President and CEO, Ingleside

March 15, 2020 update:

We are grateful for everyone’s support and understanding as we continue to implement additional measures to minimize the risk of COVID-19 for each member of our community. All of us at Westminster at Lake Ridge will continue to work hard every single day to ensure the health and safety of our residents and staff.

We thank you for your patience, understanding and flexibility as we work through this ever-evolving situation. In the days and weeks ahead, we will provide updates on this webpage about our continued efforts to safeguard our community.

We’re monitoring COVID-19 closely: As part of our preparedness protocol, we have been closely monitoring and assessing the impact of COVID-19. As information from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and World Health Organization (WHO) changes, and new guidelines are shared by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and local agencies, Westminster at Lake Ridge will continue to update our preventative measures in accordance with the guidance we receive.

We’re continuing to take actions to protect our residents and staff: Westminster at Lake Ridge has implemented our pandemic plan and is following our well-established procedures for ensuring continuity of service. This includes putting various processes and procedures in place that are designed to limit the spread of the virus.

Out of an abundance of caution and our commitment to protecting the health and safety of our community, effective immediately, we have implemented the measures described below.

Non‐essential visitors will not be allowed on the campus
We are following the latest guidance from the CDC, CMS and the VDH and we are only allowing visitors for “end of life situations or if they are essential for resident care.” Non-essential vendors and contractors, other than for emergency situations will not be permitted.

No deliveries will be made to resident apartments by outside vendors. All deliveries will be left at the concierge stations. Westminster at Lake Ridge staff will deliver the items to the resident’s door.

Social Distancing and Closing of Common Areas
Social distancing may be the most effective way for people who aren’t infected with the coronavirus to avoid getting it. But it does lead to some major changes in how we lead our lives and how social interactions occur.

We understand the importance of everyone’s emotional health and are striving to make sure people are feeling connected, while also following the safety guidelines from the CDC.

We encourage family members and residents to stay connected through use of phone, email, facetime, Skype, and other similar platforms.

The following will be re-evaluated on a regular basis as per the monitoring of jurisdictional and federal guidance.

  • Dining: To ensure effective social distancing, we have temporarily closed our community spaces including our dining areas. Meals are being provided to residents while dining areas are currently closed.
  • Programs & Services: Programs, religious services and transportation services have ceased operations to remain in alignment with ‘social distancing’.
  • Leaving the Campus: Because there may be infected individuals in the greater community, at this time, we discourage residents from leaving the campus, except for medically necessary reasons. All persons returning to the community will be screened for possible virus contact and have his or her temperature taken.

Updated Information - March 12, 2020

There is no higher priority to our entire Westminster at Lake Ridge family than the safety of our residents and staff members.

The CMS guidance states:
“Limiting means the individual should not be allowed to come into the facility, except for certain situations, such as end-of-life situations or when a visitor is essential for the resident’s emotional well-being and care.”
We are continuing to provide updates to our residents and staff, including the most recent the CDC and World Health Organization information and prevention guidelines. Additionally, out of an abundance of caution, our community has implemented the following:

  • Postponement of events that included outside visitors.
